Traditional performing art handed down from ancient times

Ainu ancient ceremonial dance is a ritual to show respect and gratitude to ancestors and the kamuy (gods or spirits) . It has been performed on various occasions, such as when relatives and friends gather together or while working. This performance is focused on an inaw—a ritual tool that connects Ainu with the kamuy (gods or spirits) . An inaw itself is a kamuy. It is an offering given when a kamuy has appeared in an area and is a gift that the Ainu send to the kamuy world. Enjoy the songs and dances performed with inaw, a dedicated bridge between the Ainu and the kamuy (gods or spirits) .
